Answer:

Family connect receive enquiries from professionals (i.e. Police, Doctors, Hospitals, Schools), children, young people, parents, carers and members of the public.

When Family connect receive an enquiry they will determine based on the information given the most appropriate response to the presenting situation and pass information to relevant services that may be able to support the child and/or family.

When a professional, family member or member of the public is concerned about a child or young person’s welfare or safety, they can contact us so we can look into it. This is called reporting a safeguarding concern. Cases involving risk to children and young people will be quickly identified and immediately passed to the Family Connect safeguarding advisors who will investigate the concern.

If it is determined the child or young person has not been harmed but we think they or your family would benefit from extra help, then their name, address, reason for the enquiry and outcome will be passed onto the most appropriate service so that you and your family get the support you need.

If the child or young person is thought to have been hurt or could be hurt in the future, we will refer them to the social care assessment team. Information will also be given to the police if it is necessary to help stop or solve a crime.
